Montessori Children’s House was started in 1971 by sisters Kay Musil and Carol Eklund for preschool-aged children. In 1980, we expanded the school to include toddlers, and we expanded again in 1988 to include a multi-grade elementary program (1st through 4th grade).

Most of the 8 staff members have been with the school for over 15 years (4 have been here over 20). This means our experienced staff can provide a well-practiced, cohesive curriculum that guides each child from one step to the next. Our approach is simple but effective and focuses on helping each child develop the skills they need to achieve their full potential.
After more than 30 years of teaching, we still strongly believe in the methods and wisdom of
Dr. Maria Montessori:
“…no human being is educated by any one else. He must do it himself or it is never done.”

From our staff to our park-like grounds, Montessori Children’s House offers a comfortable, nurturing, and safe environment for the children to learn and grow.
